Benin head coach Gernot Rohr expressed his disappointment after he failed to mastermind a win over Rwanda on Wednesday.

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on Match Day Three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Stade de l’Amitié in Cotonou.

Steve Mounie cancelled out Gilbert Mugisha’s opening goal as Benin fought back to hold Rwanda.

Rohr, who is a former coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles having taken charge of the Benin Squirrels last month, reflected on the game.

“We are extremely disappointed with the result., but what I liked was the behavior of the team,” Rohr said on CAF Online.

“We had many clear chances but we did not score. We will analyze all of this on video, because I still wonder how we could not score a second goal.

“We ended up with seven offensive players. We are disappointed because we did not win.”

Benin remained fourth on the Group L standings – three points behind second-placed Mozambique and they will face Rwanda in Kigali on Monday.
