Zambia made it three wins in a row in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, while Sierra Leone registered their first victory in Group A on Sunday.


Zambia took a big step towards qualifying for the showpiece in Ivory Coast after beating Lesotho 2-0 at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa in the afternoon kick-off.


A goal in each half from Patson Daka secured all three points for the Copper Bullets, who moved into top spot in Group H, with the Crocodiles being eliminated in the process.


Sierra Leone boosted their AFCON 2023 hopes with a 2-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, Morocco later in the evening.


The Leone Stars made the perfect start when Abubakarr Samura opened the scoring after just seven minutes and Alhassan Koroma sealed a priceless three points on 28 minutes.


John Keister’s side closed within a point of Nigeria in third place ahead of their clash with Guinea-Bissau on Monday, while the Falcons and True Parrots’ qualifying dreams were all but ended.
