A former Liverpool great has suggested that while Mohamed Salah is currently one of the club’s best players, the Egyptian should be taken out of the starting XI if he is not up to standard.
In 39 games so far, the African star managed to record 22 goals and 11 assists this season. Salah has been unable to replicate the blistering form he showcased in the last couple of years and has even been linked with a move away from the English giants.
Now though, former Liverpool star John Aldridge has said that Jurgen Klopp should relegate Salah to the bench if he is not performing and mentioned that the German mentor has attacking options that can fill in for the talisman.
“We’ve got three players who can play on the left, Nunez, Jota and Diaz, and not one of them has been tried on the right,” Aldridge said, as per Liverpool Echo.
“That doesn’t make sense to me. Mo is Mo, but you should be able to take him out of the team when he is not playing well – which we don’t.
“Even if he is injured or suspended, who is going to go on the right side? We haven’t seen anyone fill in there. We have plenty of options, but who is going to take his place if and when that happens?”
