Future FC have moved to the top of Group C in the CAF Confederation Cup after the CAF Disciplinary Board took action against ASKO Kara for fielding an illegal player.
The Egyptian club lodged a complaint against the Togolese champions after it emerged that Kangnivi Ama Tchoutchoui was ineligible for the matchday 1 encounter despite featuring in the 1-1 draw.
Tchoutchoui had received a three-match suspension in the competition whilst representing Nouadhibou last season but only sat out two games for his former employers.
The ban was due to be carried over into the 2022-23 campaign, although the 28-year-old centre-back was included in the starting line-up to face Future FC on February 12.
CAF has subsequently awarded Ali Maher’s side a 3-0 victory which has taken them above ASFAR ahead of Sunday’s final group tie against Pyramids.
“The CAF Disciplinary Board has released the verdict on the matter relating to ASKO de Kara and player Kangnivi Ama Tchoutchoui following a complaint that was lodged during the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Match featuring ASKO de Kara (Togo) and Future F.C. (Egypt) played on 12 February 2023,” a statement from African football’s governing body read.
“The Disciplinary Board ruled that ASKO de Kara forfeit the match against Future FC [and] they pay a fine of USD 10,000.”
