Ryan Moon’s sixth-minute goal settled the contest in Durban as Abafana Bes’thende extended their unbeaten run to three games to move back into the top eight in seventh position.

The Natal Rich Boyz trail them by a point in eight spot following an eight successive defeat, having now failed to win their last 10 matches.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg United slipped to the foot of the table after going down 1-0 to Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Sibusiso Vilakazi struck the winner five minutes from time to make it four games unbeaten for Babina Noko, who moved up to sixth in the standings.

The Team of Choice are rock-bottom on goal difference after losing for the sixth time in eight games.

Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates kept pace with SuperSport in the race for a top-two finish, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

First-half goals from Kabelo Dlamini (20′) and Thembinkosi Lorch (38′) secured a fourth win on the spin for the Buccaneers, who went back above Matsatsantsa on goal difference.

The Chilli Boys are now winless in their last six outings and find themselves just two points clear of Maritzburg in 14th spot.

In the late kick-off, Kaizer Chiefs lost ground to their top-two rivals after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants at the FNB Stadium.

The Glamour Boys got off to the perfect start when Ashley Du Preez broke the deadlock after just six minutes but Ranga Chivaviro hit back for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa nine minutes before half-time to earn them a priceless point.
