Ghana head coach Chris Hughton says he is aware of the expectations that come with coaching the Black Stars.
The Irish tactician started his tenure as the Black Stars coach with a win and a draw against Angola last month which left the team placed at the top of 2023 AFCON qualifying Group E.
Hughton has been mandated to lead four-time African champions to the 2023 AFCON finals which will be hosted by Ivory Coast early next year.
“The biggest challenge is always expectations,” Hughton said on Ghana Soccer Net.
“I have been here for long enough and over a long enough period and I can remember the World Cups of old and the Black Stars teams in the past so this brings expectations.
“But that comes with any management or coaching job. It is about getting results and also the levels of change now,” the former English Premier League manager added.
“So many teams have improved. If you look at an AFCON qualifying group, there’s never an easy one, which might not have been the case in the past.
“Expectations and of course making sure that you can get the results that you need to get.”
Ghana will be away to Madagascar in a Group E in June this year and Hughton’s side will qualify for the finals if they avoid a defeat.
