Pirates and SuperSport win, but Chiefs humbled

Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United recorded wins as the race to finish second in the DStv Premiership intensified.


SuperSport climbed up to the second spot on the league table after claiming a narrow 2-1 win over AmaZulu FC who grabbed a late consolation goal through Bongi Ntuli on Sunday.


While Pirates find themselves placed third on the log having secured a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Cape Town City thanks to Monnapule Saleng’s late winning goal on Saturday.


Kaizer Chiefs, on the other hand, remained fourth in the league standings after losing 1-0 to Sekhukhune United on Sunday with Sammy Seabi scoring the only goal of the match.


Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC bounced back to winning ways in the league in style when they thrashed a hapless Swallows FC side 3-0 on Saturday with Iqraam Rayners grabbing a brace.


TS Galaxy extended their winless run to three matches when they drew 1-1 with Royal AM as Jose Medina’s stoppage time goal canceled out Elias Pelembe’s opening strike on Saturday.


Lastly, Genino Palace scored Maritzburg United’s late equalizing goal on Friday as the Team of Choice drew 1-1 with Richards Bay who had opened the scoring through Sanele Barns.
