Bechem United’s Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Gyasi Atuahene, is confident that the team will attain their goal of qualifying for Africa this season.

The Hunters beat Samartex 2-0 last Sunday to move up to second place in the Ghana Premier League standings and they trail leaders Aduana Stars by just three points with five matches left to play.

Manuel Zacharia’s side have the chance to go top when they face fellow title hopefuls Medeama on Monday, given their superior goal difference to Ogya, who are in action against Karela United on the same day.

Atuahene claims the club’s title challenge in 2022-23 has come as no surprise as their plans to feature on the continent was put into action three years ago.

“For Bechem United, we are not surprised at all because we had a plan, and the plan was to represent Ghana at either the Champions League level or Confederation Cup level within the shortest possible time,” he told Citi Sports.

“We started with this plan three seasons ago. We believe everyone is playing his part according to the plan, and it’s just a matter of time. For us, we are not surprised with our performance this season, and we believe that we will surely get there.”

Bechem United represented Ghana in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup after winning the MTN FA Cup the previous year, although they bowed out at the first hurdle after losing 5-3 on aggregate to MC Alger in the first preliminary round.
