‘Partey is a shadow of himself’

Premier League legend Gary Neville believes that Thomas Partey has been a ‘shadow’ of his former self, as Arsenal stuttered during their 2022/23 Premier League title charge.

The Gunners suffered a demoralising 3-0 home defeat to Brighton this past weekend, leaving Manchester City with a four point gap at the top of the table, with a game to spare. With three Premier League fixtures left to play, City could clinch the title when they face Chelsea on May 21, at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking on tactical changes made by Mikel Arteta, Neville claimed that Partey has been out of form during the second-half of the season, especially after being replaced by Jorginho in the starting XI.

“He’s been in a shadow of himself in the last few weeks, Partey,” Neville said as per HITC.

“He has been nowhere near it. A large part of the season, he has been fantastic.

“His form and composure have deserted him at the most vital time.”
