Tunisian champions Esperance de Tunis have announced the reappointment of Mouine Chaâbani as the club’s head coach.
The Blood and Gold’s coaching job became vacant over a week ago after Nabil Maaloul resigned following the team’s 3-0 defeat to Egypt’s Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
Chaabani is expected to resign as head coach of Egyptian Premier League side Ceramica Cleopatra before taking charge of Esperance.
Esperance issued the following statement on their official website.
“Espérance de Tunis will announce today the return of their child prodigy, coach Mouine Chaâbani, to take the reins of the first team,” a club statement read.
“Mouine Chaâbani has just terminated his contract with Egyptian club Ceramica Cleopatra FC, with whom he had been engaged since January 2023, after coaching Al Masry SC in 2021/2022.”
The 41-year-old Tunisian tactician led Espérance to two CAF Champions League titles in 2018 and 2019.
