After lifting the 2022/23 Premier League trophy this past weekend, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed what it takes to stop players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Citizens claimed their third Premier League title in succession, a feat last completed by Manchester United during the 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons.
For Guardiola, the former Barcelona manager claimed his 11th league title in 14 seasons, as he continues to prove himself as one of the modern game’s greatest mentors.
Known for experimenting and tinkering with his sides, Guardiola recently admitted that he learned how to deal with wingers in the mold of Salah and Mane.
“I learned this season when you play against [Bukayo] Saka, Vinícius [Júnior], these type of wingers, [Gabriel] Martinelli or [Mohamed] Salah or [Sadio] Mané in the past that you need proper defenders to win duels 1 against 1,” Guardiola said, as per Rousing the Kop.
