Nigeria under-20 international Ibrahim Muhammad dedicated his goal to Nigeria’s brand new president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The 19-year-old forward opened the scoring as the Flying Eagles claimed a 2-0 win over Argentina in the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup Round of 16 match on Wednesday.

The West African country’s win was sealed by Rilwanu Sarki’s late goal at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario in San Juan, Argentina.

“I feel so happy because this is my first goal in the World Cup so I am so happy,” Muhammad said on All Nigeria Soccer.

“No being tensed was not in my mind. We felt comfortable, me and my teammates had that confidence. Football is like that, it doesn’t have to favor the host country.

“We dedicate this victory to ourselves and myself I dedicate my goal to our new president Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I really appreciate my teammates for their efforts today.”

Nigeria will now square off with either South Korea or Ecuador in a quarter-final match on June 4 at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
