Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer has completed his move to German Bundesliga club Augsburg ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The towering player has joined Fuggerstädter from SV Darmstadt 98 who were recently promoted to the Bundesliga from Bundesliga Two.
Augsburg issued the following statement indicating that Pfeiffer, who was born in Hamburger, Germany to Ghanaian parents, has signed a four-year deal that will expire in June 2027.
“FC Augsburg have added to their defensive strength with the signing of Patric Pfeiffer,” a club statement read.
“The coveted centre-back has opted to join FCA, arriving on a free from SV Darmstadt 98. The 23-year-old helped the Lilies to Bundesliga promotion this season, scoring four goals and grabbing one assist in 24 appearances.
“The 1.96-metre-tall defender, who came through Hamburger SV’s youth academy and has represented Germany at U18 and U19 level, has signed a long-term contract until 30th June 2027.”
In July 2022, Ghanaian Football Association president Kurt Okraku, announced that Pfeiffer was one of the few players that had officially switched allegiances to represent the Ghanaian senior national team internationally.
However, the talented player is yet to play for the Black Stars.
