Haashim Domingo is hoping to secure a deal with Raja Casablanca after failing to agree new terms to extend his stay at DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has entered the final month of his contract at Loftus Versfeld and will become a free agent in July following three successful seasons with the Brazilians.
Domingo arrived at Chloorkop in September 2020 from the now defunct Bidvest Wits and went on to win five trophies during his time with Masandawana, including the domestic treble in 2021-22.
The Ajax Cape Town youth product made 14 appearances for Rulani Mokwena’s side last season as they cruised to a sixth consecutive league title, contributing three goals and one assist.
However, Domingo is seeking regular first-team football and has emerged as a target for the 12-time Botola champions, who is managed by former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer.
The player’s agent, Glyn Binkin, confirmed that they will fly to Morocco on Saturday in the hope of reaching an agreement with the Green Eagles.
“We’ll be flying to Morocco on Saturday to enter into negotiations for Haashim Domingo to transfer to Raja Casablanca,” Binkin told TimesLIVE.
“We’re excited about the opportunity. Obviously we’re not getting ahead of ourselves but hopefully everything will go smoothly and he’ll become a Raja player for next season.
“It’s an opportunity for him. The life, the culture appeals to him. He had a very good tenure at Sundowns and maybe it’s just a new chapter in his life.
“Also he’s played in Europe before, in Portugal (for Guimaraes). So it’s something different for him. He’s played for the top club in South Africa. Morocco would be a new chapter and he’s looking forward to it.”
