Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that Khama Billiat has dropped off the radar since his contract expired at the end of last month.
Reports emerged earlier this week that the former Zimbabwe international had refused to take a pay cut as Amakhosi looked to negotiate a new deal with him.
However, Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung denied the rumours and expressed his hope that Billiat would accept the club’s offer to remain at Naturena.
The 32-year-old forward has failed to report for pre-season training though, with the Glamour Boys stating that their attempts to reach out to him have been met with silence.
Billiat endured a difficult season at Chiefs due to various injuries which limited him to just 12 appearances across all competitions.
“Following the expiry of attacking midfielder Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs contract on June 30, the club tabled a new offer for the Zimbabwean marksman to remain with Amakhosi,” the Soweto giants said in a statement.
“However, to date, the player has not responded to the offer or any attempts to contact him. Billiat was last seen at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on June 29 and has not answered any of the calls made or messages sent to him by the club.
“The team is currently in camp with all the players, yet Billiat, who is also expected to be there with his team-mates, failed to show up and is currently nowhere to be found.”
