Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro is in talks with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) over a new deal.
This is according to the organization’s technical director Augustine Eguavoen with Peseiro’s previous contract with the NFF having expired on 30 June 2023.
However, Eguavoen also indicated that they will make adjustments to the previous agreement while urging him to be flexible if he hopes to continue as the Super Eagles coach.
“At the moment he is in charge, we are discussing in-house and we are giving him conditions as well,” Eguavoen said on All Nigeria Soccer.
“We are flexible, so it could be suitable for both sides and once we reach a common ground, why not?
The former Real Madrid assistant manager was appointed Nigeria’s head coach in May 2022 on a one-year deal and he guided the Super Eagles to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
“We would invite him and once we agree and we arrive at a common ground, we would be flexible and we also want him to be flexible with us,” Eguavoen continued.
“Contract or no contract, he is a human being and he is still the coach of the national team as it is. Contract attached to whatever is not the issue for now.
“We will invite him as our present coach. We want to reach a common ground but if we can’t, we would also like to shake hands.”
