Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official Mohamed Ghoraba has dismissed reports suggesting that Rui Vitoria has resigned as the Pharaohs’ head coach.
The Portuguese tactician has been tipped to take charge of Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli who have been without a head coach since sacking South Africa‘s Pitso Mosimane,
Ghoraba, who is the national team director, insisted that Vitoria has no agreement with a Saudi club and that he is happy as the Pharaohs’ coach.
“There is absolutely no truth to the rumors about Rui Vitória reaching an agreement with any Saudi club,” Ghoraba said on King Fut.
“The reports that have been issued are entirely false and baseless. I spoke with Vitória, and he denied entering any negotiations with any Saudi team. He wasn’t contacted by any official.
“Vitória is spending his vacation with his family and has not been in contact with anyone,” he continued.
“He is committed to his contract with the Egyptian national team and is preparing for the world cup and the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He is happy to be in Egypt.”
The Pharaohs are set to host Ethiopia in their last 2023 AFCON qualifier in September.
