Egyptian Premier League side Future FC have announced the departure of Ali Maher as their head coach, bringing an end to his two-year spell at the club.

The 49-year-old was handed the reins in September 2021, shortly after the Cairo outfit had been purchased by the Future Company for Sports Investments following their promotion to the top flight.

Maher guided the team to a fifth-placed finish in his first season at the helm to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup and won his first piece of silverware in 2022 as they lifted the inaugural Egyptian League Cup.

Despite improving on their final placing (fourth) and points tally (58) in the league last term, the Cairo native has been relieved of his duties after finishing 30 points behind champions Al Ahly.

Maher recorded a 46 per cent win rate from his 82 matches in charge across all competitions, losing just 20 times, and secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup for a second consecutive season.

Local reports have suggested that he is set to return to Al Masry, where he spent one season before accepting the Future FC job.
