German-born Ghanaian defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh has made it known that he is still keen to play for the Black Stars.
The experienced right-back made his debut for Ghana in a friendly match against Canada in 2015 and has since then not received any further call-up to the national team.
Ofosu-Ayeh was in good form in the 2022 Swedish Allsvenkan season for Halmstads BK which compelled Sweden head coach Janne Andersson to make an open request for the player according to reports from Ghana.
“I really love Ghana and always would want to play for the Black Stars. Ghana is my father’s homeland and my spirit is with the Black Stars,” Ofosu-Ayeh said on Ghana Soccer Net.
“I enjoyed playing for the Black Stars in the Canada friendly but I got injured and was ruled out of Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers.”
It remains to be seen whether Ghana head coach Chris Hughton will include Ofosu-Ayeh, 31, in the Black Stars squad that will face the Central African Republic next month.
