Inaugural African Football League fixtures confirmed

The draw for the African Football League quarter-finals took place in Cairo on Saturday as the four fixtures for its inaugural season were revealed.


The Confederation of African Football’s new flagship club competition will run for October 20 to November 11 and will follow a knockout format, with home and away tie being played in each round.


Four of the continent’s most successful teams in Al Ahly, TP Mazembe, ES Tunis and Wydad Casablanca will feature alongside Enyimba, Mamelodi Sundowns, Simba and Petro de Luanda.


Record 11-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly will face the Msimbazi Reds, while 2022-23 losing finalists Wydad were paired with the Peoples’ Elephant.


Meanwhile, Sundowns will take on the Tricolores and the Ravens lock horns with the Blood and Gold.
