Ghana head coach Chris Hughton has named Andre Ayew in the Black Stars squad that will face the Central African Repinlic (CAR) on Setember 7.
This is despite the 33-year-old attacking midfielder being clubless since he parted ways with English Premier League club Nottingham Forest at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Ayew is Ghana’s captain and his presence on the field and his contributions off the pitch could be key to the team’s hopes of qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
Richard Ofori of Orlando Pirates in South Africa is among those making their return to the Black Stars squad as the West African country looks to qualify for AFCON finals by avoiding a defeat against CAR.
The match against CAR is set to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
