Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag recently explained why the Red Devils signed Sofyan Amrabat and praised the Moroccan international’s versatility in midfield.

In the closing stages of the recent transfer window, United eventually concluded a deal for Amrabat after being linked with the African star since June.

Now though, Amrabat will join United on a season-long loan deal with the English giants having a £21.4 million option to sign the Moroccan permanently. Speaking on the move, Ten Hag believes that Amrabat will be a good addition to the club’s central defensive midfield department.

“In that position we only had Casemiro who can play really well there. With others we have to make compromises but, with Sofryan Amrabat, we have another one,” Ten Hag told the United official website.

“Also he can play alongside Casemiro because he can also play a little bit higher on the pitch. So it’s very good to have him and I think he fits very good to Premier League football, to Champions League football. I think the demands are strong.

“He is very dynamic, he’s very good in the duels. So we are pleased that we have him at United and I think he will contribute to our high targets we set.”
