Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe has disclosed why he had to leave English Premier League club Arsenal FC for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The left-footed winger recently left the Gunners on a free transfer, having had one year left on his contract, but he had fallen out of favour under manager Mikel Arteta.

Pepe explained that the Turkish Super Lig suits his style of play hence he had to leave the Premier League.

“I can say that we have to work hard to recapture the championship that we won today,” Pepe told the club’s official website.

“I hope we will achieve many successes this season with this team. The transition game is a game that suits my playing quality. I’m sorry, I’m sorry.

“Of course, the game played in the Premier League has an impact on me. Turkish League is played with a game style that focuses more on transition play,” he added.

“This will be a style of play that will suit me very well.”

The 28-year-old has 10 goals in 37 international matches for Ivory Coast.
