Egypt captain Mohamed Salah’s conduct during the Saudi Pro League speculation has been praised by his Liverpool FC teammate Andy Robertson.

The accomplished winger was wanted by Saudi champions Al-Ittihad Jeddah during the recent European summer transfer window, but Liverpool made it known that their star player was not for sale and he stayed put at the English giants.

On Saturday, Salah reached a milestone of 200 Premier League goal involvements for the Reds after he grabbed two assists in the team’s 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Scotland captain Robertson, who scored on the day, was impressed by the 31-year-old.

“I don’t get many goals so it’s always nice to score, we knew they were quick on counter-attacks and corners so we had to be alert, and I know Mo can pick a pass so I got in there and luckily slotted it in. I’m delighted for the goal, crucial for us to get our noses in front,” Robertson said on 90 Min.

“During the speculation, I thought he was superb on the pitch and there was a lot of talk outside it. Now that’s all done and dusted, I thought he put in a good second-half performance like we all did, first-half we all were not at it.

“He probably only gets credit when he gets goals which is slightly unfair, but he’s got us two assists today, he’s got us back in the game, created chances and second half he was really good.”

Salah has started the 2023/24 season in fine form for Liverpool, registering at least one goal contribution in each of their five Premier League games thus far.

He is contracted to the Merseyside giants until June 2025 having joined the club in 2017 from Italy’s AS Roma.
