Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has apologised for his post on Snapchat in response to the criticism he received for errors committed against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

The 24-year-old isn’t viewed in a good light by sections of the national team’s fanbase after his blunder against Ghana ultimately cost Jose Peseiro’s side a place at the 2022 World Cup.

Uzoho made headlines for all the wrong reasons again during the recent international break following mistakes that led to goals for the Green Falcons and the Mambas.

Despite receiving public backing from Peseiro and his Super Eagles team-mates, the Omonia shotstopper posted a series of images on Snapchat of the Europa League encounter against Manchester United, where he pulled off 12 saves in a narrow 1-0 defeat.

However, Uzoho has since taken to social media to issue an apology for his behaviour and admitted that criticism comes with the territory.

“It has come to my attention that my recent Snapchat has not been my best behaviour towards you all as my loyal fans,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I apologise for this as it was not my intention to conduct myself in such a manner towards the fans who have supported and motivated me throughout my career.

“Accepting criticism is part of my job and one that I often welcome from people who continue to support me. I accept your criticisms with the utmost respect and understanding that you all want me to do better.”
