TS Galaxy midfielder Bernard Parker has been discharged from hospital after undergoing surgery on the broken leg he suffered against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
The former Bafana Bafana international sustained the horror injury following a poor challenge from Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu in a Carling Knockout round-of-16 clash, which the Rockets went on to win via penalties.
Zungu received a straight red card for his over-the-top tackle in the 58th minute and Parker was rushed to hospital with a suspected leg break amid fears that his career could be over.
The 37-year-old was visited by Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic and members of his backroom staff on Thursday and club owner Tim Sukazi revealed on Saturday morning that Parker was on his way home after his surgery was successful.
“Mzansi TS Galaxy family, Bernard Parker has now been discharged. We thank you all for your support, lots of love,” Sukazi wrote on social media platform Twitter.
A post from Parker on Instagram 24 hours earlier read: “Surgery was a success and thank you so much for the love and support, especially from my family, I love you guys. To Tim Sukazi, the TS Galaxy family, coaches and management, thank you for your support.”
