Ocloo: Worrying times for Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo conceded their form is a cause for concern after a 1-0 loss to Samartex on Saturday extended their winless run to five matches in the Ghana Premier League.

Prosper Narteh Ogum hasn’t made the best of starts to his second spell at the Baba Yara Stadium, winning just two of his opening 10 games at the helm.

Emmanuel Keyeke scored the only goal of the game against his former club at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena to inflict a third consecutive defeat on the Porcupine Warriors.

Ogum’s side slipped into the relegation zone as a result and trail Real Tamale United (15th), Bibiani Gold Stars (14th) and Nations FC (13th) by one point in 16th place.

The Kumasi giants are amongst the league lowest scorers this season with just seven goals and Ocloo acknowledges they need to show a greater desire in front of goal.

“Yes of course, anytime the goals are not coming they are worrying times, but we’ll go back and work hard like we always do,” he said. “We need to be more aggressive and purposeful in front of goal.

“We came with a game plan, but Samartex were more determined, and they wanted it more than us but during recess, we also re-strategised and came in but it’s unfortunate we couldn’t score.”
