Manchester United legend Paul Scholes did not hold back in his summary of Andre Onana’s performance in the Red Devils 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night and mentioned that the Cameroonian was responsible for his side’s result.
In what was a pulsating fixture at RAMS Park, Galatasaray came from two goals down to record a 3-3 stalemate against the English giants. While the Red Devils were clinical in attack, a series of errors by Onana put United on the backfoot on a couple of occasions throughout the tie.
According to Scholes, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper makes his defence nervous and that he makes a meal out of straight forward saves.
“What can you say? It’s a terrible mistake again (for the second goal). I’m sure if he is trying to punch it away with his right hand, it’s weak,” Scholes told TNT Sports, as per Team Talk.
“He makes people nervous. I think he makes his defence nervy, his team nervous. He makes simple saves look really, really difficult.
“You see him again here at the near post (for the third goal). I’m not a goalkeeping expert and others will know more about this, but I don’t think he should be beaten at the near post. His positioning is poor.
“For me all three goals are down to him.”
