Current SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believes that he should have been awarded more time during his eight-month stint with Kaizer Chiefs during the 2020/21 campaign.

After collecting 30 points from 28 games during the 20/21 season, the Amakhosi hierarchy decided to cut ties with the popular South African coach.

With six wins and 10 losses to his name during his time with the Glamour Boys, Hunt struggled to turn the Soweto giants’ fortunes around. However, Hunt is with the thought that he needed time to sort out what he described as an ageing squad.

“Maybe they didn’t like me,” Hunt said on the This Is Football Podcast.

“Obviously, you don’t fit in, maybe they don’t like you, maybe they don’t like you as a person, don’t like your mannerism, don’t like your this, that…

“But, if you hire someone, you’ve got to let them get on with it and let them fail and I needed to get to the end of the season.

“I was two games away from the end of the season and then change, you know what I mean.”
