Nigeria internationals Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella will be released if they are included in the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
This is according to their German club Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director Simon Rolfes with Ivory Coast set to host the tournament between January and February.
Previously, Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro said that he was considering legal action to prevent Boniface and Tella from representing the Super Eagles at the AFCON finals.
Carro cited the timing of the competition which will hold from January 13 to February 11, 2024, but his colleague has now stated that the players will be released if called up.
Amine Adli (Morocco), Odilon Kossounou (Ivory Coast), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso) are also on the books of Leverkusen.
Adli, Kossounou, Tapsoba, Tella and Boniface are all expected to be included in their respective countries’ squads for the 2023 AFCON finals
