Three-time African champions Wydad Casablanca have terminated coach Adel Ramzi’s contract due to the team’s poor form in the CAF Champions League.

The 46-year-old tactician exits after the Moroccan giants recorded just one victory from their first three Group B matches which sees them placed third on the standings.

The Red Castle’s statement confirmed Ramzi’s departure was by mutual consent:

“Wydad Sports Club, headed by Saeed Nassiri, announces that it has parted with coach Adel Ramzi by mutual consent,” read a club statement.

“The executive office of the club and all its members, especially its fans, extend their sincere thanks to Coach Ramzi for everything he has done, and his keenness to lead the football team with sincerity and effort.”

The retired Morocco international has been tipped to be replaced by Tunisian coach Faouzi Benzarti who will be returning for his fourth stint with the Casablanca-based club.

Benzarti, 73, guided Wydad to the Moroccan Botola Pro League title in the 2018–19 and 2020–21 seasons.
