Cameroon and Guinea are set to meet in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group C game at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.


Date: Monday 15 January 2024




Kick-off: 19h00 CATHead-to-head: The two teams have met 19 times with Cameroon winning seven matches compared to Guinea’s five victories. Seven games ended in a draw.


Cameroon’s last three results: The Indomitable Lions are undefeated in their last three matches having thrashed Mauritius 3-0 before drawing 1-1 with Libya in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They wrapped up their preparations for the 2023 AFCON finals with a 1-1 draw against Zambia in a friendly game.


Guinea’s last three results: The National Elephants have been inconsistent as they defeated Uganda 2-1 before losing 1-0 to Botswana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They ended their preparations for the 2023 AFCON finals with an impressive 2-0 win over Nigeria in a friendly match.


Team news: Andre Onana is set to miss the game as the Manchester United star is expected to join the Cameroon camp on Monday while Indomitable Lions captain Vincent Aboubakar is an injury doubt. Guinea are monitoring Serhou Guirassy who picked up an injury against Nigeria.


Key players, Cameroon: André-Frank Zambo Anguissa will be keen to stamp his authority in the middle of the park and put Cameroon in a good position to win the game while Karl Toko Ekambi, who has 13 goals for the Indomitable Lions, should lead the attack with Aboubakar an injury doubt.



Key players, Guinea: Naby Keita is an influential player in the middle of the park and the Guinea captain has the ability to carry his team forward and either score or create goals. With Guirassy an injury doubt, the exciting François Kamano is the player to watch out for in the National Elephants’ attack.
