Senegal will face off with Ivory Coast in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 match at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.

Head-to-head: The two teams have met 25 times across all competitions with Ivory Coast having the upper hand. The Elephants have registered 14 wins compared to the Lions of Teranga’s eight victories, while three games ended in a stalemate.


Senegal’s last three results: The Lions of Teranga are undefeated in their last three matches – recording three consecutive wins. They thrashed the Gambia 3-0 before securing a 3-1 win over Cameroon and a 2-0 victory over Senegal in Group C.


Ivory Coast’s last three results: The Elephants are winless in their last two games having succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Nigeria before losing 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in Group A. They had started their Group A campaign with a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau.


Team news: Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye is an injury doubt and his teammate Abdallah Sima has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to an injury. Ivory Coast, on the other hand, are likely to be without Sebastian Haller who is out injured.




Key players, Senegal: Lamine Camara is Senegal’s main source of goals having scored two goals in this tournament while Sadio Mane remains an influential player for the Lions of Teranga and he could be key to a win over Ivory Coast.




Key players, Ivory Coast: Seko Fofana has been a consistent performer for Ivory Coast having been named Man of the Match after the game against Guinea-Bissau. Jean-Philippe Krasso netted against Guinea-Bissau and he will be eager to propel Ivory Coast to a win over Senegal.
