South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has cautioned his charges ahead of their eagerly-anticipated clash against Nigeria.
The two former African champions will tussle it out in Wednesday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final encounter in Bouake, Ivory Coast.
Broos led Bafana Bafana to a 2-1 win over Cape Verde on penalties after a 0-0 draw in a quarter-final encounter played in Yamoussoukro on Saturday.
“There was a lot of pressure in the match [against Cape Vere]. Everyone wanted to qualify,” Broos said in the post-match conference according to Daily Post. https://dailypost.ng/2024/02/
“This match was unlike the previous ones. We did not show the same performance as we had in previous matches.
The Belgian tactician, who guided Cameroon to the 2017 AFCON title, pointed out that Bafana cannot afford to lose focus against Ademola Lookman and co.
“The semi-final match will be different against Nigeria, which has good players like Lookman. We will not lose focus,” he added.
“The players will be in good condition, so we need to rest and recover to start our preparation.”
