After an indifferent start to life at Manchester United, it’s been reported that the Red Devils will decide against signing Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Moroccan joined United on loan from Fiorentina at the beginning of the campaign and arrived at Carrington as one of Erik Ten Hag’s most high-profile acquisitions to date.

However, Amrabat struggled to break into the United starting XI throughout the season and was pushed down the pecking order following the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo. According to Journalist Dean Jones, United will not extend Amrabat’s loan deal with Ten Hag being unconvinced by his performances so far.

“Mainoo is preferred to both Eriksen and Amrabat. I think it speaks a lot about the future of all three players,” Jones told Give Me Sport.

“Mainoo is going to become a mainstay of this Man Utd team. Amrabat’s loan is not going to be extended beyond this season; Man Utd will not take up any option on that. Eriksen’s future is up in the air.

“He’s linked with Galatasaray at the moment but I don’t think that that deal will go through either on the player’s or United’s side for now.”
