Teboho Mokoena’s agent insists that any clubs interested in signing the reigning PSL Footballer of the Year must approach Mamelodi Sundowns first.

The 27-year-old midfielder played a starring role for Bafana Bafana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they reached the semi-finals before going on to finish third.

Mokoena contributed two goals and an assist in seven appearances at the tournament, although he failed to score from the spot in the 4-2 shootout defeat to Nigeria before also missing from 12 yards out as Hugo Broos’ side beat DR Congo 6-5 on penalties in the third-place playoff.

The Sundowns star has attracted interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, but Glyn Binkin was keen to stress that his client remained committed to the 2023 African Football League champions.

“There has been lots of interest in Teboho, but he remains under contract to Sundowns until June 2026 and any club interested in Mokoena would have to engage with Sundowns in this regard,” Binkin told iDiski Times.

Mokoena has made 10 appearances for the Brazilians in the DStv Premiership as they hold a nine-point lead over the chasing pack heading into the second half of the season.
