Equatorial Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) has suspended their team captain Emilio Nsue and midfielder Ivan Salvador.

The duo has been suspended for “several episodes of serious indiscipline” during the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Ivory Coast.

Nsue had been sidelined for “serious indiscipline” and will remain unavailable for international duty until “further evidence” became available according to FEGUIFUT. https://www-feguifut-org.translate.goog/noticia/emilio-nsue-e-iban-edu-afectados-de-las-primeras-medidas-tomadas-por-la-feguifut?_x_tr_sl=es&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

The 34-year-old was one of the the best players at the 2023 AFCON finals as he won the Golden Boot with five goals in four games for Equatorial Guinea and he was also included in the Team of the Tournament.

FEGUIFUT also confirmed that Salvador would also be suspended after an “unsavoury” incident on January 29, which needed the intervention of the Ivorian police.

Equatorial Guinea’s next two competitive matches which are against Tunisia and Malawi will take place in June in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
