Agent: Sithole has Serie A proposal

Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole’s agent is confident that the midfielder will leave CD Tondela at the end of the season amid interest from an unnamed club in Serie A.

The South Africa international’s stock has risen after he helped Hugo Broos’ side finish third at the recently-concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sithole featured in all seven matches for Bafana Bafana at the tournament and formed a formidable partnership with Teboho Mokoena in the middle of the park.

The 24-year-old is currently plying his trade in the Portuguese second division after joining Tondela from B-SAD in July 2023, but Manuel Tomas is already looking to secure a move to a bigger club for his client.

“Of course, we want to transfer him, but the club wants €3 million, but in the second league it is very difficult [to get that kind of offer],” Tomas told iDiski Times.

“But we need to think about the next step for Yaya, it is very important now. He’s 24 and all the people in Africa or the world know there is a good midfielder in the second league in Portugal, who played very well against players playing in the Premier League or other big leagues.

“We are waiting for a good opportunity and the next step is very important of course. But he will move at the end of the season.

“It is better not to talk about it but there is a proposal in the Serie A. As I said, he doesn’t deserve to play in the second league, and I need to do my best to transfer him away from Tondela.”
