The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly agreed for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be held from July to August 2025.

Earlier this month, CAF President Patrice Motsepe could not confirm an official date for the 2025 AFCON finals with Morocco set to stage the continental showpiece.

This is because Africa’s biggest football tournament will coincide with the 2025 FIFA 32-team Club World Cup which is scheduled to run from June 15 to July 13 in the USA.

According to Morocco World News, on Monday, an official of the committee in charge of competitions told AFP that there was “an agreement in principle between CAF and the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) for the CAN to be held during the summer, more precisely in July and August 2025.

“This agreement was reached under the aegis of FIFA after a series of talks which intensified during the last edition held in Cote d’Ivoire,” they continued.

The two previous AFCON finals were staged between January and February due to adverse weather conditions in Cameroon and Ivory Coast.
