All of Zamalek, Dreams, USM Alger and RSB Berkane have advanced to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday night as the popular competition hits fever pitch.

To begin with, Ghanaian Premier League outfit Dreams recorded a 3-2 aggregate win over Stade Malien at the Bara Yare Sports Stadium on Sunday in what was one of the most exciting ties of the round.

With Dreams entering the game with a 2-1 advantage from the first-leg, Stade Malien star Yoro Diaby’s goal in the 59th minute made for an interesting end to the encounter. However, Dreams did not hold back while Sylvester Simba got his name on the scoresheet in the 70th minute to send his side through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Elsewhere, Egyptian giants Zamalek were made to work for their place in the last four of the competition following their 3-2 aggregate win over Modern Future in the quarter-finals.

Zamalek took a 2-1 lead to the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, where a goal by Jonathan Ngwem in the 18th minute stunned the home fans in attendance. Then, after a spirited start to the second-half, Ahmed Hamdi’s goal shortly after the hour mark proved to be enough for Zamalek as they triumphed over their Egyptian counterparts.

Zamalek will now face Dreams in the semi-finals, while USM Alger have been scheduled to face RSB Berkane in their next CAF assignment.
