Young Africans SC coach Miguel Angel Gamondi has brought into doubt his future with the Tanzanian club.
The 60-year-old Argentine has been in charge of Yanga since the start of the 2023-24 season and has led the team to the top of the Mainland Premier League log, as well as a quarterfinal showing in the CAF Champions League.
In fact, Yanga were close to appearing in the semifinals of the continent’s premier club competition, only exiting on penalties at the hands of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this month.
Such achievements would suggest that Gamondi will remain in place to continue his work with the team, but the coach has suggested otherwise.
“I cannot reveal my next plan with the club while I am not sure if I will be with the team,” said the Argentine, as quoted by The Citizen.
He added, “Regarding plans for next season? It’s still too early to know whether I will be here or not.”
Gamondi signed a one-year contract when he joined Yanga, but his deal includes the option for a one-year extension depending on the team’s performances.
Yanga may have exited the CAFCL, but they are on course for a Premier League title win and could also claim the CRDB Bank Federation Cup.
They will next be in action with a league clash on 14 April against Singida Big Stars, while their crunch derby against arch rivals Simba SC will follow six days later.
