Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has called on all the club’s supporters to get behind the team ahead of the Cairo Derby.

Two of the biggest football clubs in Egypt, Al Ahly and Zamalek are set to meet in an Egyptian Premier League encounter on Monday at the Cairo International Stadium.

Koller, who led the Red Eagles to a 1-0 win over ZED in a league clash on Thursday, stressed the importance of Al Ahly fans attending the Cairo Derby in larger numbers.

“Al-Ahly and Zamalek matches have a special atmosphere,” the Swiss tactician said on the club’s official website.

“We won the cup final match and I expect that they will have great motivation, but we will prepare strongly, and the players know very well the importance of such confrontations and we will prepare appropriately for this match.

“Kohler indicated that he hopes for a large audience presence in the Zamalek match because it is a very important factor and represents a great motivation for the players, and that the team is accustomed to the pressure of matches and rotates between the players to face the pressure of matches, and that Al-Ahly is the only team on the continent that faces such pressure, which causes many injuries,” a club statement read.

Al Ahly and Zamalek are placed ninth, and 12th respectively in the league standings, but they have four games, and two matches hands in hand respectively.
