Manchester United star Andre Onana has revealed how the Red Devils goalkeeping department helped him endure a torrid start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Off the back of a promising display for Inter Milan in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final, Onana was swiftly linked with a move to United ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. However, Onana found the going tough during the first couple of months in England and was often slated in the media after making high profile mistakes during matches.

However, the Cameroonian recently explained how the United coaching staff instilled confidence in him as he later went onto shine for United during a difficult period of the 23/24 campaign.

“We have to protect each other, especially when things are not going good,” Onana told SkySports.

“They were there with me. They told me, ‘Andre, listen, we know who you are. We were sitting in front of the TV, we were watching you playing the Champions League semi-final. You were almost close to winning against City in the final.

“‘So we all know who you are. Take your time. Most of the keepers who have been here at Manchester United had difficulty in the beginning.’

“These are the kind of messages they were giving me, and the players also helped me so much.”
