SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has given his thoughts on his team’s poor run of form ahead of their DStv Premiership fixture against Polokwane City at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

SuperSport are without a win in their last five league fixtures, playing four draws and losing their most recent one against TS Galaxy.

Apart from their league troubles, the team also suffered a 4-0 loss against Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final last weekend.

Speaking about the stalemates they played in the league, Hunt feels that the team did the best that they could even though they dropped points.

“We’ve had a bit of a bad run in the last game or two, people can talk about the draws but some of them were three away games that we drew and obviously we were leading in games and what we played were tough games,” he explained.

“These are tough games and we’re still there, right around a good position and we want to finish in a good position, so we will try in every game.”

A number of players who were promoted from the reserve team have made into the side and have featured in recent matches, but the coach does not want to put the blame on the team changes.

“When you come in as a young player and you come from a winning environment, they’ve never had to work hard for anything in terms of suffering with the ball and suffering when you’re down, they’ve got to learn the process,” he continued.

Hunt believes that the players are adjusting to playing at a senior level from winning the DStv Diski Challenge last season.

“They will get better and the club will get better, things will get better that’s for sure,” he concluded.
