Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan has opened up about a reported altercation involving Sulley Muntari and Moses Armah during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Muntari was rumoured to have physically assaulted then-Black Stars team manager Armah over disputes regarding appearance fees, leading to the midfielder’s dismissal from the team.

Therefore, Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng were sent home from the Black Stars camp and suspended from the Ghana squad on 26 June 2014 for disciplinary reasons, only hours before the final Group match against Portugal.

Gyan, who was a key member part of the Black Stars squad in Brazil, has insisted that Muntari never ‘slapped anybody’ as he dismissed the rumours.

“Sulley [Muntari] never slapped anybody,” Gyan stated emphatically on Ghana Soccer Net.

The 2-2 draw betweem Ghana and Germany at the 2014 World Cup proved to be Muntari’s last match for the Black Stars. He played 84 matches for his country and scored 20 goals.
