Simon Ngapandouetnbu will continue his development at Marseille after reaching an agreement on a contract extension with the Ligue 1 club.

The Cameroon Under-23 international has yet to make a first-team appearance for Les Phoceens since signing professional terms at the Stade Velodrome in 2019.

Ngapandouetnbu came up through the youth ranks at I’OM and is currently third choice behind Pau Lopez and Ruben Blanco for Jean-Louis Gasset’s side.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper gained valuable experience with the Indomitable Lions after being included in the squad for the 2022 World Cup, although he hasn’t won a cap for the senior team to date.

Ngapandouetnbu’s current deal was set to expire at the end of the current season, but his future has been secured until the summer of 2026, according to La Provence.

The youngster is currently recovering from a meniscus tear he suffered in March and is expected to be sent out on loan next season.
