Nigerian legend Sunday Oliseh has backed Vinicius Junior for the Ballon d’Or award after the Brazilian star’s exploits in the UEFA Champions League clash.

The 23-year-old was involved in the build-up to Real Madrid’s first goal as Joselu poked the ball home after goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had failed to handle Vinicius’ shot and the Spanish giants went on to beat Bayern Munich 2-1.

Therefore, Madrid, who had trailed 1-0 after Alphonse Davies had handed Bayern the lead on the night, progressed to the Champions League final after winning the enthralling semi-final tie 4-3 on aggregate.

“Wow! Extraordinary Ballon d’Or worthy Vinicius Jr, extraordinary coach Carlo Ancelotti, an absolute top Real Madrid,” ex-Nigeria coach and captain Oliseh wrote on his X page.

“Turned defeat to legendary victory in three Minutes! I love Real’s nonstop, variety of football philosophy. A tactical blast watching Real Beat Bayern Munich.”

Vinicius, who has scored five and grabbed four assists in nine Champions League this season, will carry Madrid’s hopes of defeating Borussia Dortmund in the final on 1 June.

Oliseh turned out for Dortmund between 2000 and 2004, and he won the 2001/02 Bundesliga title with the club.
