As one of the most demanding jobs in South African football at the moment, here’s a look at high-profile names linked with the Kaizer Chiefs hotseat.

With Cavin Johnson currently serving as the club’s interim coach, the Glamour Boys have been linked with a number of mentors in the last couple of months as the Soweto club seek to relive their glory days once again.

Benni McCarthy

McCarthy, who is currently Manchester United’s striker’s coach, will be a free agent when his contract with the Red Devils comes to an end at the end of the campaign. The charismatic coach often reiterated his desire to return to South African football in the near future and has now emerged as a top candidate for the Amakhosi post.

Pitso Mosimane

Said to be keen on a move to Naturena, Mosimane reigns as the most successful coach on the club’s list of targets. The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach previously mentioned that an ideal coaching job in football comes with a clear project and football model. With Chiefs looking to hit the reset button in the coming months, the prospect of guiding a struggling Chiefs outfit to glory could be appealing to the ex-Al Ahly coach.

Alexandre Santos

The Petro de Luanda manager recently emerged as a candidate for the Chiefs job while attracting major interest elsewhere on the African continent. It’s believed that Chiefs could battle Tanzanian giants Simba SC for his signature, while the Soweto giants attempt to hire a new coach before the next transfer window.
