Al Ahly and Egypt national team defender Mohamed Abdelmonem has been making waves on the football pitch, and at 25 years old, there could be an opportunity for him to spread his wings and play outside of Africa.
Transfer rumours
In February to March, Abdelmonem was linked to moves to the Middle East and Europe respectively. The player’s agent revealed that there’s a pending offer from Stars League outfit Qatar SC which could see the player take a giant leap.
Following that news, it was reported that he had also attracted interest from Ligue 1 side FC Nantes in France. Real Betis and Sevilla from La Liga have their eyes on Abdelmonem too due to his affordable Transfermarkt value of €3 million.
For Nantes, it could be that the team is keen on the Egyptian as his national teammate Mostafa Mohamed is their striker, he has scored eight goals in the league this season.
What’s next?
Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly has stated that the Al Ahly star should go to Europe, saying that he was impressed with him at the Club World Cup.
“Abdelmonem has a bright future. I saw him in the Club World Cup; he is a promising player, and I hope he goes to Europe because he deserves it,” said Koulibaly as per KingFut.
With all the interest from teams abroad and even receiving praise from one of the best defenders in the world, Abdelmonem should seriously consider his future and weigh his options.
Could there be more in store for him in his advancing career?
