Cape Town Spurs’ relegation from the DStv Premiership was confirmed on Saturday evening, as Richards Bay stunned Orlando Pirates by beating the Soweto team 1-0 at the Orlando Stadium.

AmaZulu overcame a first-half deficit to secure a share of the spoils as Kaizer Chiefs, who had high hopes of winning at Moses Mabhida Stadium, were held to a 1-1 draw against the KZN outfit.

Moroka Swallows ended Stellenbosch’s 20-game winning streak at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, capping an unpredictable weekend. As a result, Stellies and the Buccaneers are still tied for second place, with one point separating them.

SuperSport United’s goalless draw with Cape Town Spurs on Friday night may have given supporters hope, but Ernst Middendorp’s team was unable to avoid automatic relegation due to Richards Bay’s unexpected victory.

Together with the outcome for Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town City and TS Galaxy split the points in their 1-1 draw at the DHL Stadium on Sunday. Golden Arrows and Chippa United experienced a similar outcome despite sharing the same number of points.
